2017 NCAA NCSS Rankings: Week 11

We're officially a week away from Nick Saban Is A Coward Week... not my favorite week of the college football season, but one of the more fun ones because of the potshots I get to take.

Last week saw the beginning of full on MACtion, which part of me wishes would take place sooner in the schedule, but once the World Series ends there's not a ton of competition on TV, and it gives every team a chance to get their bye weeks in.

If you need a refresher on how this metric works, you can read that in my season introductory post. Here's what's on tap for Week 11.

  1. MAC (0.00, 6.17; LW: 1). No change.
  2. Sun Belt (0.25, 5.92; LW: 2). Louisiana visits Ole Miss.
  3. Mountain West (0.33, 5.75; LW: 4). UNLV hosts BYU, New Mexico visits Texas A&M.
  4. Conference USA (0.00, 5.57; LW: 3). No change.
  5. American Athletic (0.00, 4.25; LW: 5). No change.
  6. Big Ten (0.00, 4.07; LW: 6). No change.
  7. Big 12 (0.00, 3.60; LW: 7). No change.
  8. ACC (0.21, 3.43; LW: 8). Duke visits Army, Miami hosts Notre Dame.
  9. SEC (0.14, 3.14; LW: 10). Ole Miss hosts Louisiana, Texas A&M hosts New Mexico.
  10. Pac 12 (0.00, 3.08; LW: 9). No change.

We saw some things get flipped around a little bit this week, as the Mountain West jumped a spot, but couldn't catch the Sun Belt as they keep visiting SEC schools. Speaking of whom, the SEC jumps out of last place for a week, until next week when I skewer Nick Saban for being a coward, though he won't be alone in the skewering.

The independents' average NCSS jumps up to 17 this week, and that's with Massachusetts hosting FCS Maine this week. It's their first of the season, and no one has signed up for a game against multiple FCS opponents, so so far I've had no reason to disqualify anyone other than Penn State and Baylor for being a cult that prioritized the football program over the well-being of children and for covering up massive amounts of sexual assault, respectively.

That's it for now! I'll be back on Monday with a look at results from the week and then follow that up with another Death to the BCS Playoffs mock bracket!
