2017 NCAA Playoff Points: Week 13

Rivalry Week is concluded, and now for all intents and purposes, the regular season is done, with one exception.

The Sun Belt is still playing out its string, and I'll touch on their automatic bid scenarios tomorrow. Today, though, we need to go through the results from this past week, because a lot of major things happened that need our attention.

Several upsets happened, which will mean some upheaval in the Death to the BCS Playoffs, but I'll get to that later today. For now, like last week, I'm going to update everyone's Playoff Points and update the conference rankings below.

I half expected the SEC to take a little more of a tumble with the ACC winning three of four non-conference games on Saturday, but I think Auburn's win ended up making up for it. The Sun Belt, meanwhile, had a week of not being in last in PP2, but that ended this past week. I think part of the issue there runs with them still having a week of games, but that doesn't explain why they're still tied for sixth in average wins.

I also do have a confession to make: I screwed up one of the games last week with Oregon beating Arizona, while I had input the opposite result. That error has been fixed and the numbers here factor that change in. I don't know how much of a difference it would have made, but regardless, we're all set on that front.

The upheaval did change up the individual team top fives a little bit. Wisconsin and Clemson are tied for the PP1 lead with 69 points apiece, Alabama and Georgia are tied for third with 64 points, and Oklahoma rounds out the top five with 62 points. In PP2, Notre Dame still leads this category with 34.89 points, followed by Clemson at 31.27, then 4-8 Syracuse at 31.00, with Iowa at 29.86 and Stanford rounding out the top five with 29.00 points. Finally in aPP, Wisconsin is the leader at 69 points, Georgia and Alabama tie for second with 62 points, Clemson is fourth at 61, and unbeaten UCF rounds it out with 59 points. If you're curious, the worst team in this category is 0-12 UTEP, who have a total of -60 Adjusted Playoff Points.

With that, I need time to process all of this, plus look over the computer rankings. Later today I'll be back with my final mock bracket for this year's Death to the BCS Playoffs!
