2015 NCAA NCSS Rankings: Week 10

With our first mock bracket out, the debate over playoff resumes can truly begin. Of course, as we continue on with the season though, we need to continue to gather data to make informed decisions.

For the last several weeks, there has been a minimal amount of change in these rankings with the conferences just because of the sheer amount of in-conference play. Last week was no exception. This week will see more of the same by nature.

I do this post on Tuesdays mainly because of MACtion, which kicks off today with NIU and Toledo. This covers everyone

Following the jump, I will post this week's score and the cumulative score for the season. I'll also check in on last week's ranking. Let's take a look.

  1. Conference USA: 0.00; 6.25 (LW: 1). No change.
  2. MAC: 0.00; 6.15 (LW: 2). No change.
  3. Sun Belt: 0.00; 5.64 (LW: 3). No change.
  4. Mountain West: 0.17; 5.42 (LW: 5). San Jose State hosts BYU and Air Force hosts Army.
  5. American Athletic: 0.00; 5.42 (LW: 4). No change.
  6. Big Ten: 0.00; 4.93 (LW: 6). No change.
  7. Pac-12: 0.00; 3.33 (LW: 7). No change.
  8. ACC: 0.07; 3.14 (LW: 8). Pittsburgh hosts Notre Dame.
  9. Big XII: 0.00; 3.00 (LW: 9). No change.
  10. SEC: 0.00; 2.64 (LW: 10). No change.

If you want to see the updated rankings, you can view them here. All blue zeroes indicate a game in-conference, while the black zeroes stand for bye weeks.

All the out of conference games this week involve the independent schools, whose collective average score is now 15.33, which would be far and away the best score. Obviously though, they're different, so I take their NCSS scores with a healthy amount of skepticism. The only major change in the rankings this week comes from the two Mountain West teams hosting the independents, so they move into a tie with the American Athletic Conference and get the temporary tiebreaker due to the higher week score.

That's all for now. I'll be back following the weekend with an updated look at Playoff Points, and a new mock bracket.
