2015 NCAA NCSS Rankings: Week 11

Another mock bracket is out and our Week 10 look is concluded. Week 11 gets underway tonight with some MACtion, so we need to be ready with a look at the schedule.

Last week saw a little flipping between conferences, but it's interesting to see the clear dividing line: the Group of Five all make up the top five in these rankings, while the Power Five conferences rank 6-10, and pretty much have for all but the entire season. Since we're mostly doing in-conference games for the rest of the year, most of the ranking will remain the same, at least for the next week or so until Nick Saban and other SEC shills show how big of cowards they are.

After the jump, I will show this week's average NCSS score as well as their cumulative total. Let's take a look.

  1. Conference USA: 0.23; 6.15 (LW: 1). North Texas visits Tennessee.
  2. MAC: 0.00; 6.15 (LW: 2). No change.
  3. Sun Belt: 0.00; 5.64 (LW: 3). No change.
  4. Mountain West: 0.00; 5.42 (LW: 5). No change.
  5. American Athletic: 0.17; 5.58 (LW: 4). Tulane visits Army.
  6. Big Ten: 0.00; 4.93 (LW: 6). No change.
  7. Pac-12: 0.00; 3.33 (LW: 7). No change.
  8. ACC: 0.14; 3.29 (LW: 8). Wake Forest visits Notre Dame.
  9. Big XII: 0.00; 3.00 (LW: 9). No change.
  10. SEC: 0.07; 2.71 (LW: 10). Tennessee hosts North Texas, Missouri hosts BYU, and Texas A&M hosts FCS team Western Carolina.

If you want to see the updated rankings, you can view them here. All the blue zeroes indicate conference games, while black zeroes are bye weeks.

A couple notes of full disclosure: I caught a mistake I made on one of the spreadsheets yesterday as I was going through Playoff Points, then realized I made the same mistake on the NCSS one. That has been corrected, and explains why Conference USA went down in points from last week if you look; I had messed up the average range on the entire spreadsheet. Anyway, that is fixed and the numbers should be accurate now. The other one is my usual weekly one about how the independents, were they their own conference, would be in first place with an average NCSS of 17.33. Given the state of their schedules, their numbers do get inflated, but I wanted to make sure I mentioned it.

That's it for now. I'll be back on the college football bandwagon on Monday when I look at the results from the weekend and build another mock bracket. In the meantime, I will also have Week 10 NFL picks with Adam and interject with some basketball as North Central College gets set to tip off.
