2015 NCAA Playoff Points: Week 13

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend!

Our second to last week of the regular season is in the books, though just about everyone is finished with their seasons at this point. So with the last mass week of football in the books, it's time to take a look at the numbers.

Last week's Playoff Points rankings didn't really change much other than some minor swings in a couple spots. For the most part though, everything is locked in, but these rankings are important to some degree.

If you need a refresher on how Playoff Points work, you can refer back to my Week 1 post. Here is an update on what we're looking at through 13 weeks of football.

If you want to see exact numbers for each team and conference, you can view my spreadsheet here. There were a couple changes, most notably that the SEC is no longer in first place in all three categories, as the Pac-12 took over the Second Degree Playoff Points lead, largely thanks to Stanford's win over Notre Dame. The Big 12 is starting to jump its way up as well, and will move into fifth next week in average wins once they finish out their schedule.

On an individual basis, there are three teams far and away the best according to one metric. Michigan State remains in the lead in terms of First Degree Playoff Points with 73, though Oklahoma is right behind them with 72 points and Alabama is third with 71. Clemson is in fourth with 67 points and Ohio State rounds out the top five with 63 points. Meanwhile in the Second Degree, Nebraska's win over Michigan State has them leading the country with 31.60 points and LSU is the only other team over 30 with 30.38 points. Michigan State is in third with 29.91 points, Stanford is next with 29.80, Alabama has 29.73, and USC has 29.50 points. Nebraska and LSU are out of the playoff hunt, but the others all have relevant numbers for later this afternoon.

I will take these stats, my NCSS rankings, as well as a couple of computer rankings and go to the Playoff Laboratory with them. Coming up later today, I will have one final mock bracket to unveil before the official Death to the BCS Playoffs Bracket goes live next week. To those of you with teams still in the hunt: good luck!
