2015 NCAA Playoff Points: Week 10

The results are in, and several undefeated teams are out of the mix.

We're down to just six undefeated teams ten weeks in, which means a bunch of teams will now be in the mix for the Death to the BCS Playoffs. That comes a little later today. For now, I need to update results from the weekend as it pertains to Playoff Points, which saw some fairly significant changes from last week.

So below, I will go conference by conference with a look at their average wins and Playoff Points, both First and Second Degree. I'll also take a quick look at some of the national leaders in advance of preparing my second mock bracket. If you need a refresher on how Playoff Points work, you can refer back to my Week 1 post.

If you want to see exact numbers for each team and conference, you can view my spreadsheet here. It's another week of some minor changes here and there, though it's interesting to see the three independents (...okay, Notre Dame and BYU) taking control of the wins and PP1 leaderboards. The SEC is still a force to be reckoned with, and the Big Ten is as well with two undefeated teams still standing. Meanwhile, the Sun Belt is the Sun Belt.

Clemson is in the driver's seat nationally with 45 First Degree Playoff Points, though Alabama is not far behind them with 42 points. Despite their loss on Saturday, Michigan State is third with 39 points, while Ohio State and Notre Dame are tied for fourth with 38. The Tide do lead in Second Degree Playoff Points with 19.5, LSU is right behind them at 18.57, while USC is still in the mix at 17.83 and Notre Dame is sitting close at 16.88 points.

I'm going to go into the laboratory now, look at both my numbers and some other computer rankings, and this afternoon, I will have my second mock bracket for the Death to the BCS Playoffs coming up.
