2014 NCAA NCSS Rankings: Week 12

It's another early start to the week this week in the college ranks.

MACtion continues its full-fledged domination of the weeknights, with four games over the next two days, and other conferences get in on the action as well as we begin Week 12 of the college season.

For the most part, we're almost out of non-conference games, but there are always a few every week because of independents and conferences with an odd number of members. Well, that, plus the eventual ACC-SEC matchups that attempt to offset the obscene SEC midseason dessert binge. Last week, we had five games out of conference, including a pair of FCS matchups (one guess as to which conference was responsible).

So what about this week? Let's take a look.

  1. Conference USA (0.08, 6.23; LW: 1). Western Kentucky hosts Army.
  2. Mountain West (0.17, 6.17; LW: 3). UNLV visits BYU.
  3. American Athletic (0.27, 6.09; LW: 4). Temple visits Penn State.
  4. MAC (0.00, 6.08; LW: 2). No change.
  5. Sun Belt (0.18, 5.45; LW: 5). Georgia Southern visits Navy.
  6. Big 10 (0.21, 4.43; LW: 6). Penn State hosts Temple and Northwestern visits Notre Dame.
  7. ACC (0.00, 3.36; LW: 7). No change.
  8. Pac 12 (0.00, 3.17; LW: 8). No change.
  9. Big XII (0.00, 3.10; LW: 9). No change.
  10. SEC (0.00, 2.79; LW: 10). No change.

In the interests of keeping you updated, the independents have an NCSS of 16.50. Obviously, since all their games are out of conference, these numbers are inflated, which is why they don't get their own category, but I wanted to keep their numbers available to you. If you want to see each individual school's scores, you can view my spreadsheet here.

The next two weeks, everything might get delayed a day or so. Next week my wife and I will be at the Madhouse on Madison to see the Hawks, and the following week I turn 25. With focus on family and what have you, plus the chaos that will be two weekends from now, I'll need time to focus on other stuff. I will still keep the college numbers up to date as best as I can, however. Check back early next week to see how your team fared!
