2016 NFC East Preview

We're onto Day 3 of our NFL previews as I work to get all 32 NFL teams pegged out for the upcoming season.

I'm done in the North divisions and am working my way clockwise around the country alternating conferences to get to eight. Today, I'm onto the NFC East.

Before I do that, once again this season I'm picking NFL games against the spread. I will be joined by defending champion Adam Quinn for our third year of weekly posts with our picks. If you want to try and beat us, you can join our ESPN Pigskin Pick 'Em Group.

Let's take a look at the previews.

NFC East

Common opponents on schedule: NFC North, AFC North

1. New York Giants
2015: 6-10 (3rd), missed playoffs
Tom Coughlin's enrollment in the Andy Reid School of Clock Management before the 2015 season cost him his job, as the Giants blew five games in the fourth quarter last season. Ben McAdoo takes the helm now, and just based on the Law of Averages, the Giants should flip some of this around. Eli Manning was solid last year and is going to have a strong receiving corps to throw to. If the defense rebounds the way they paid a lot of money for, they're going to be in the mix in December and January.
2016 Prediction: 10-6

2. Washington Redskins
2015: 9-7 (1st), lost in NFC Wild Card Round
Kirk Cousins is a decent quarterback, and he has a couple solid receivers, but the run game is a question mark with Matt Jones taking the reins as the starter behind Cousins. On defense, the addition of Josh Norman was the coup of the offseason, and is a move that will keep the Skins in contention for a playoff spot. They'll be in the mix, but I think they fall just short.
2016 Prediction: 9-7

3. Dallas Cowboys
2015: 4-12 (4th), missed playoffs
I still don't understand the media fascination with this team. They're going to run for a crapton of yards thanks to Ezekiel Elliott and that offensive line, but Tony Romo is hurt... again... which leaves the offense in the hands of rookie Dak Prescott for the foreseeable future. We'll see how quickly the league adjusts to him and if he can adjust back. On defense, having Orlando Scandrick back helps, and Dallas drafted a ton of guys on the defensive side, but I don't see the Cowboys doing anything this year.
2016 Prediction: 6-10

4. Philadelphia Eagles
2015: 7-9 (2nd), missed playoffs
After Admiral Kelly got the axe, Philly is slowing the pace down. There are some decent weapons for whoever starts under center, likely Sam Bradford while Carson Wentz waits in the wings and Chase Daniel serves as a teacher of the offense. I'm not sold on the defense though, and I'm sure Philly is still trying to undo the damage done by Chip Kelly the GM. In a meh division, they'll still finish with a semi-respectable record given the circumstances.
2016 Prediction: 6-10
