2016 NCAA Playoff Points: Week 4

We're about a month through the college football season now, which is kind of crazy. Most teams have played four games now, with a few having only played three due to byes some time in the first four weeks. With this though, we're starting to see a little separation again in the numbers.

Last week's numbers will probably be similar, at least in terms of rankings, but the point totals are only going to go up as more games get played.

If you want a look at how these scores are calculated, you can view my season preview post. Let's get a look at the data.

As we look at the individual teams, Tennessee is the first team to double digits with 10 First Degree Playoff Points, while Michigan and Clemson are tied for second with eight points, and Louisville and Texas A&M round out the top five with seven points apiece. The Volunteers are tied with South Carolina atop the Second Degree Playoff Points leaderboard with 3.5 points apiece. It's crazy looking at the Adjusted Playoff Point board though, especially at Conference USA where Southern Mississippi is the only team above zero and everyone else is well into the negatives. A handful of teams around the country are at -6 points in that category.

You will also note that I'm finally working on getting a little more visual data this season. This morning I was able to get a chart for First Degree Playoff Points aggregating the weekly totals, and I will update these weekly. I'm also in the process of working on additional charts, so you can continue to check the Google Sheet for additional information.

I'll be back tomorrow with a look at the Week 5 schedule and its non-conference games.
