It was the most groupthink week I think we've ever had last week, that even included a couple late changes reducing it even further. It worked out for us, as we all split our two disputed games with each other. As a result, Adam's lead among the columnists remains where it was and just seven games separates first from last place among the entire group.
You can view how we've all picked in relation to each other here. Due to the groupthink there were quite a few consensus picks last week, and we continue to have some good success there. And as a group, hero picks have hit at a very good rate, with Adam's usual success in those games being a large reason why he's at the top of the leaderboard.
So as we move on to this next week, Adam and I disagree on five games, Joe and I on just two, and the two of them on three out of 14. Let's get to it!
Thursday Night
Baltimore Ravens @ Miami Dolphins (+7.5)
Lucas: Dolphins. This is purely a points pick. Yes, I know Lamar is supposed to be back (after some possibly illegal gaming of the injury report), but I still do not trust the Ravens' defense.
Adam: Ravens. I assume Lamar will be back. Should be an easy W. An easier spot than last week against my Bears, so I call for 14+ by Baltimore.
Joe: Ravens.
Sunday, Early Afternoon
Chicago Bears @ Cincinnati Bengals (+2.5)
Lucas: Bears. I'm going to avoid gloating over losing to Tyler Huntley, just because I'm not 100% sure what this Bears team is, other than an incomplete product.
Adam: Bears. Purely a line pick. I think this will be a tight game, maybe even last score. But I like the Bears to outlast Cincy by 3.
Joe: Bears.
Minnesota Vikings @ Detroit Lions (-8.5)
Lucas: Lions. Get them checks, Aidan. And the quarterback too, I guess.
Adam: Lions. This will be a NFC North battle, but only before the opening kick. Detroit will crush and not let up.
Joe: Lions.
Carolina Panthers @ Green Bay Packers (-12.5)
Lucas: Packers. Yeah, I know, this screams "Trap game," but it's not like Joe Barry is coaching Green Bay's defense or anything. Also All Hail Guardian Cap Romeo Doubs.
There it is

Adam: Panthers. Did I miss an injury, probably. But 12.5 is a tall order.
Joe: Packers.
Los Angeles Chargers @ Tennessee Titans (+9.5)
Lucas: Chargers. Boring. Next.
Adam: Chargers. There is no hope for the Titans any more.
Joe: Chargers.
Atlanta Falcons @ New England Patriots (-5.5)
Lucas: Patriots. Especially since I don't know if Penix will be good to go or not. Kirk Cousins is washed.
Adam: Falcons. I don’t love this pick, but the Falcons were embarrassed last week against Miami, so I think they come our strong and lean on Bijan. And maybe not win, but keep it close.
Joe: Patriots.
San Francisco 49ers @ New York Giants (+2.5)
Lucas: 49ers. RIP, Exciting Whites Era. You were gone before your time.
Adam: 49ers. Get well soon, Skattebo.
Joe: 49ers.
Indianapolis Colts @ Pittsburgh Steelers (+3.5)
Lucas: Colts. The 9-8 Super Bowl is alive and well, especially when they get beat by the surprising best team in the AFC.
Adam: Colts. Gonna keep riding the 7-1 Indy train. I like them to win on the road by a touchdown.
Joe: Colts.
Denver Broncos @ Houston Texans (-1.5)
Lucas: Broncos. Houston's played better of late, sure, but with how well Denver's played on the whole this line doesn't make sense.
Adam: Broncos. Seems like a weird line all things considered. But even still, Denver will lead and never look back.
Joe: Broncos.
Sunday, Late Afternoon
Jacksonville Jaguars @ Las Vegas Raiders (+3.5)
Lucas: Jaguars. I don't know what prompted it (because I'm not the one making Sunshine references), but my YouTube algorithm has been suggesting a bunch of reels from Remember the Titans and now I need to watch that movie again. It's been too long.
Adam: Jaguars. Jacksonville is a much better team than 4-3. Sunshine to the rescue.
Joe: Jaguars.
New Orleans Saints @ Los Angeles Rams (-13.5)
Lucas: Rams. Not thrilled that I'm laying two touchdowns twice this week, but when you're going up against *checks notes* Tyler Shough? GG, Saints.
Adam: Rams. I know the Saints are a mess and starting a new rookie QB. Wonder how his trial by fire will be; I’m going three picks, no touchdowns.
Joe: Rams.
Kansas City Chiefs @ Buffalo Bills (+1.5)
Lucas: Chiefs. Because we cannot have nice things.
Adam: Bills. Tough call, so I’ll take Allen and the home Bills. But seriously, it could go anywhere from KC blowout to Bills blowout or anywhere in between. I wonder if we may be in for a 50-48 game.
Joe: Bills.
Sunday Night
Seattle Seahawks @ Washington Commanders (+3.5)
Lucas: Seahawks. Possibly as belated revenge for the Mariners getting dick punched?
Adam: Seahawks. Just the better team right now. Wish it was 2.5, but I’ll dance with the extra point and see what happens.
Joe: Seahawks.
Monday Night
Arizona Cardinals @ Dallas Cowboys (-2.5)
Lucas: Cowboys. Easy bounceback game candidate here.
Adam: Cardinals. Upset special of the week. In all reality Arizona should have no business in this game, but the Heiferladies look meh and apparently, per the FAN, Kyler loves Jerra’s world and usually does well. So that all combined, Cardinals by 6.
Lucas note: So I had to look this up. Kyler has played the Cowboys Heiferladies twice in his career (which seems low, but injuries and whatnot I guess), both at Jerrah World, and won both. But I ask: did the FAN boyz actually do any research? Because I'm whelmed by these numbers.
| Pass | Pass | Pass | Pass | Pass | Pass | Pass | Pass | Pass | Pass | Pass | Rush | Rush | Rush | Rush | ||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Date | Result | Cmp | Att | Cmp% | Yds | TD | Int | Y/A | AY/A | Rate | Sk | Yds | Att | Yds | TD | Y/A |
| 2020-10-19 | W, 38-10 | 9 | 24 | 37.5 | 188 | 2 | 0 | 7.8 | 9.50 | 93.7 | 1 | 11 | 10 | 74 | 1 | 7.4 |
| 2022-01-02 | W, 25-22 | 26 | 38 | 68.4 | 263 | 2 | 0 | 6.9 | 7.97 | 105.5 | 1 | 14 | 9 | 44 | 0 | 4.9 |
Lucas note: Further research confirms. In addition to the two wins with the Cardinals, Kyler won games there with Texas A&M (which deserves a big asterisk as he didn't throw a pass and only ran five times for 27 yards) and Oklahoma (no asterisk, as he went off for 379 yards and three touchdowns to beat Texas for the Big XII title). He also apparently won there five times for Allen High School but stats are harder to come by. So, certainly better, but I remain whelmed on the whole.
Joe: Cowboys.
