We've gone from 51 down to 34 in just one week's time.
Three weeks of college football action are in the books, and as the regular season chugs along, resumes are being built and destroyed all at the same time. At this stage of the season, anything can still happen. That's why every week I'm adjusting the numbers to account for what happened.
Week 2's rankings saw the first gaining of any playoff points by teams, and those numbers are only going to go up as the season progresses. Now, we'll start to see more teams with points, and the ones that do are going to have a ton of them.
You can go back to Week 1's post to see specifically how the Playoff Points system works. Below are the average win totals as well as First and Second Degree Playoff Point averages by conference.

PP1: 0.18 (11th)
PP2: 0.00 (11th)
If you want to see exact numbers for each team and conference, you can view my spreadsheet here.
To no surprise, the Sun Belt remains at the bottom, though I'm interested by the early success of the Big Ten. They're top 3 in every category, which is only matched (and arguably topped) by the SEC being second in every category.
Individually, Ohio State has a perfect PP1 score so far with 6 points, though once conference play starts, that number will cease to be "perfect" as teams beat up on each other. Oklahoma is second with 5 points, and a bunch of teams have 4. On the Second Degree side, BYU leads the nation with 2 points, while Temple and Ole Miss are tied for second with 1 1/3 PP2 (it's expressed as a decimal on the Google Sheet, but it's easier to write as a fraction here).
These numbers will continue to grow as the season goes on, though the win totals will start to plateau here in a week or so once conference play begins in earnest. The big wins come from Playoff Points, and we'll see how that goes.
Check back tomorrow, when I'll have a look at the Week 4 schedule.
