2015 NCAA Playoff Points: Week 2

We're officially through two weeks of the college football season. 51 teams still remain undefeated, but there is a lot of football left to play.

Last week we didn't have any playoff points to speak of. Today, now that you have teams having played more than one game, the numbers will start to open up and I can really start to rank everyone.

So, like last week, I am going to go conference by conference and list out their win averages and average Playoff Points, both First and Second Degree. These are going to be a major factor when we really start to look into the Death to the BCS Playoff field.

If you want to see exact numbers for each team and conference, you can view my spreadsheet here.

To no real surprise, the Sun Belt is in last place in every category, while the SEC is in second place in every one. The Mountain West, after having been second in Week 1 wins, falls all the way to ninth now that the conference had to play FBS-level competition. The Big XII ultimately leads the way in average wins, while the independents have the best average Playoff Points. Part of that is that it's a group of only three teams, but you have two 2-0 teams.

Individually, we have seven teams who have a two week "perfect" PP1 score: Alabama, BYU, Florida State, Kentucky, Ohio State, Temple, and Utah. BYU also leads the nation in PP2, with 1 point, while several other schools have 0.5. These numbers will grow and fluctuate a little bit as the season goes along, but for now, there are your leaders.

I'll open up the calendar tomorrow and take a look at your Week 3 schedule to see how well the non-conference slates were scheduled this year.
