2021 NCAA Playoff Points: Week 7

Seven weeks are in the books, we're down to just 11 unbeaten teams in the FCS, and the playoff picture is starting to sort itself into place.

I don't think I'm quite ready to start building out mock brackets quite yet, but I'm still going to be charting playoff points over the next several weeks as more data points means a better picture at who the best teams are and who is deserving of advancing.

So without further ado, here are the numbers through seven weeks.

Ultimately, especially now that we're in conference play, there won't be a lot of movement. There was some in the middle of the pack in some categories, but I think we can safely put the SEC at the top, with the Big Ten, Big 12, and ACC following them.

Looking at individual teams, after being the first team to crack 20 points in PP1 last week, Georgia hits the 30 mark after Week 7. Michigan and Iowa are tied for second with 21 points, followed by Oklahoma State with 19. Boise State still leads in PP2, standing just four-hundredths of a point ahead of Georgia for first place despite a 3-4 record. Then in the aPP category, Georgia obviously leads with 30 points, Michigan is next with 21, followed by a tie between unbeaten Oklahoma State and Iowa, whose loss to Purdue this past week knocks this score down to 19 points.

I'll follow up next with a look at the Week 8 schedule, which starts Wednesday night!
