2016 NBA/ABA Tournament of Champions: Consolation Bracket Day 12

We're back to our normal posting times for the Consolation Bracket now that the Round of 32 over in the Elimination Stage is settled. Those games may technically still be going on per the timeline, but I wanted to get all the series done in a couple bigger batches to be done with it. We'll have the Round of 16 results in a couple of weeks.

Meanwhile, the Consolation Bracket is nearing completion. Only four teams remain alive: the top two seeds are preparing for a showdown in Houston tomorrow. Meanwhile, we're back in Los Angeles today for what is technically the quarterfinals of the loser's bracket. They get the tiebreaker thanks to record over their guests. Today's simulation is provided by WhatIfSports.com. Let's go play some basketball.

Loser's Bracket

(5) '93 Chicago Bulls 108, @ (5) '10 Los Angeles Lakers 101
The Lakers haven't had to leave LA all tournament, but their final home game is a losing one as they attempted far fewer free throws (18) than the Bulls made (29). The bigger problem was that Michael Jordan destroyed the Lakers with 41 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and four steals, while Scottie Pippen added 20 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists, and Horace Grant logged 17 points and 12 rebounds for Chicago. Pau Gasol had 24 points and 12 rebounds for Los Angeles, Ron Artest added 18 and five, Andrew Bynum recorded 14 and seven, and Kobe Bryant was held to 11 points, six rebounds, and eight assists.

Only three teams remain in this field. The Bulls get a day to rest and recover while preparing for another matchup as our top two seeds do battle tomorrow. Check back then to see who will advance to the championship game!
