2021 NCAA NCSS Rankings: Week 12

The penultimate week of the regular season gets underway tonight, which means it's time to get a quick peek at what's coming up.

We've got MACtion again each of the next two nights, which will help determine one automatic bid recipient, and likely not any at large berths. Most of that will come on Saturday, which is also when the D-III playoffs kick off, something I'm excited for.

There won't be many adjustments this week, though next week's batch of rivalry games certainly will. We'll see just how much that swings the pendulum, but for right now, here's where we're at going into Week 12.

  1. MAC (0.00, 5.75. LW: 1). No non-conference games this week.
  2. Mountain West (0.00, 5.50. LW: 2). No non-conference games this week.
  3. Conference USA (0.00, 5.21. LW: 3). No non-conference games this week.
  4. Sun Belt (0.90, 5.20. LW: 5). Georgia Southern hosts BYU, Louisiana visits Liberty, South Alabama visits Tennessee, and Louisiana-Monroe visits LSU.
  5. American Athletic (0.09, 4.82. LW: 4). UCF hosts UConn.
  6. ACC (0.07, 3.57. LW: 7). North Carolina hosts FCS Wofford, and Georgia Tech visits Notre Dame.
  7. Big Ten (0.00, 3.57. LW: 6). No non-conference games this week.
  8. SEC (0.00, 3.07. LW: 8). Georgia hosts FCS Charleston Southern, Texas A&M hosts FCS Prairie View A&M, Kentucky hosts New Mexico State, Mississippi State hosts FCS Tennessee State, Tennessee hosts South Alabama, and LSU hosts Louisiana-Monroe.
  9. Pac-12 (0.00, 2.83. LW: 9). No non-conference games this week.
  10. Big XII (0.00, 2.80. LW: 10). No non-conference games this week.

The SEC has a bunch of games that all cancel each other out in what has traditionally been referred to as "Nick Saban Is A Coward Week," except this year it's "Kirby Smart Is A Coward Week" since Alabama got their FCS game in way back in Week 2, which to me is how this should go. Meanwhile, the Sun Belt makes a jump up a spot (and it would have been two were it not for the UConn-UCF game). Next week the SEC will make its jump way up the list with all the ACC rivalry games (and the ACC will benefit as well).

I'll be back early next week with a look at the Week 12 results!
