2025 COAS Pigskin Pick 'Em: Week 14

Well, the good news is I had my Thanksgiving heater. The bad news is it didn't really carry over as we move into the home stretch of the coalition picking 2025 NFL games!

Adam retains his lead over the group thanks in part to taking two of three disputed games with me last week despite his being on a cruise, though we each swept our sets of disputed games with Joe (two for me, three for Adam). His lead remains about where it has been for a good chunk of the season. That 15-1 Week 2 gave him the cushion and we just haven't been able to catch up yet.

You can view how we've all picked in relation to each other here. We had a decent consensus week once again to keep our pace, but it was a great week for hero picks, as in the six games last week where someone went hero, five of them hit; this included Adam hitting on yet another one as he's 13-5 when he does so this season.

As we move on to this next week, Joe and I are pretty well aligned with just three disputed games out of 14. Adam is a little more out there though, disputing seven games with me and eight with Joe. Let's get to it!

Thursday Night

Dallas Cowboys @ Detroit Lions (-2.5)
Lucas: Lions. Didn't matter that the moon was waxing crescent instead of waxing gibbous on Thanksgiving, Detroit still lost. But in what should be a really good Thursday night game I'll lean the home team.
Adam: Cowboys. With St. Brown likely out, it kneecaps the Lions too much; plus Dallas has been markedly better since acquiring Williams. This game will come down to two things: what Dak do we get, and can the Lions' run game make up for the injuries.
Lucas note: As of Wednesday afternoon between when Adam sent his picks and I compiled everything, Amon-Ra was listed as a game time decision. And ankles are finicky; I can confirm from personal experience. Though mine did get me out of running like a dozen suicides at a basketball practice.
Joe: Lions.

Sunday, Early Afternoon

Seattle Seahawks @ Atlanta Falcons (+7.5)
Lucas: Seahawks. Doubt they'll pitch a shutout this week, but they shouldn't have a heck of a lot of trouble containing the Falcons.
Adam: Seahawks. I don’t like the couple extra points I think the Falcons have gotten, but Seattle is the much better team here and should win with ease.
Joe: Seahawks.

Tennessee Titans @ Cleveland Browns (-4.5)
Lucas: Browns. Cam Ward has been sacked a league-high 48 times already this year, and this week his offensive line has to contend with *checks notes* Myles Garrett. Strahan's sack record is going to fall by halftime, isn't it?

Adam: Browns. Just taking the home team, and better D, in this matchup. Next.
Joe: Browns.

Washington Commanders @ Minnesota Vikings (+1.5)
Lucas: Commanders. Washington's had some rotten luck this season, and the Vikings are... trash? Let's go with trash. I shed no tears.
Adam: Commanders. Another game with a questionable play, and a key one. Daniels is not cleared for contact from what I saw but could still be in line to play. Without him, I still like the Commanders, so if he’s a go, just butter.
Joe: Commanders.

Miami Dolphins @ New York Jets (+2.5)
Lucas: Dolphins. Part of me could see this going the other way, but I still think Miami is the better team.
Adam: Dolphins. I really wanted to take the Jets, but the funeral that is McDaniels’ job seems to be scraping by and may just save himself until the end of the season.
Joe: Dolphins.

New Orleans Saints @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-8.5)
Lucas: Buccaneers. I'm a little leery laying this many on a divisional game, but it's the Saints. Screw it.
Adam: Saints. Purely a gut pick. 8.5 seems high for a divisional match where the Saints have been bad but not awful and the Bucs have come back to reality a little since their smokin’ hot start.
Joe: Buccaneers.

Indianapolis Colts @ Jacksonville Jaguars (+1.5)
Lucas: Jaguars. Yeah, it probably depends on which Jags team shows up, but if I'm getting a point I'm gonna take it.
Adam: Colts. Not really sure what to think here. Long Necks it is.
Joe: Colts.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Baltimore Ravens (-5.5)
Lucas: Ravens. Don't let the intrusive thoughts win, Lucas. Don't do it... Don't do- HEY, GUESS WHAT THE LOSER OF THIS GAME'S RECORD WILL BE?!

Adam: Steelers. Look, Rodgers is cooked, but the Ravens have not been AS good as they should be. I think weird things happen. Plus the Steelers need to get above .500 to preserve their 9-8 season.
Joe: Ravens.

Cincinnati Bengals @ Buffalo Bills (-5.5)
Lucas: Bengals. This is purely a points pick since Joe Burrow being back helps, especially against a wounded Buffalo defense.
Adam: Bengals. Cincy is revitalized with Burrow back and the Bills just seem a step off this year. Line seems right, but I’ll play with the Burrow magic; he is Kevin after all and it is the Christmas season.

Joe: Bills.

Sunday, Late Afternoon

Denver Broncos @ Las Vegas Raiders (+7.5)
Lucas: Broncos. This is an insanely lucky 10-2 team, and it's going to bite them in the playoffs, but they can get away with it against the Raiders.
Adam: Raiders. How quickly people forget the Thursday night game a few weeks ago... I’ll take these points thank you and dare I say: comeback win for the Raiders.
Joe: Broncos.

Chicago Bears @ Green Bay Packers (-6.5)
Lucas: Bears. I'm sorry, the Packers shouldn't be touchdown favorites here. I'm still gonna ride Toyotathon and Micah Parsons for a win, but the Bears will keep it close.
Adam: Bears. You serious Clark? 6.5?! That is an insult. Look, I get it: its in Lambeau and all, but the Bears sit atop the NFC AND it’s a divisional game. Give me them points. Bears cover for sure, but will be last possession for the W.
Joe: Bears.

Los Angeles Rams @ Arizona Cardinals (+8.5)
Lucas: Rams. Easy bounceback game candidate.
Adam: Cardinals. Mostly a line pick, but the Rams have to falter and what better place than overlooking an “inferior” opponent such as Arizona?
Lucas note: So does the loss to Carolina that pushed the Bears into first place not count as "faltering?"
Joe: Rams.

Sunday Night

Houston Texans @ Kansas City Chiefs (-3.5)
Lucas: Texans. Thanks largely to this defense that held down the fort while Stroud recovered. NO MOON NO MOON STROUDS STROUDS STROUDS STROUDS.
Adam: Chiefs. KC is starting to look like they may miss the playoffs (we can only be so lucky) but they are a resilient team and I seem them pushing that possible fate out another week.
Joe: Texans.

Monday Night

Philadelphia Eagles @ Los Angeles Chargers (+2.5)
Lucas: Eagles. Though it would be funny to get a double dose of Crying Sirianni if John Carroll can upset their old conference foe in the D3 Playoffs on Saturday plus a Chargers upset here.

Adam: Eagles. Not much to say here, they have done just enough to get to the 8-4 and need a big win.
Joe: Chargers.

Records So Far
Lucas: 95-99 (8-8 last week)
Adam: 103-91 (9-7 last week)
Joe: 93-101 (6-10 last week)
Geoffrey: 93-101 (9-7 last week)
Jim: 96-98 (9-7 last week)
Tom: 94-100 (7-9 last week)
