NBA Tournament of Champions: Michael Jordan Bracket Second Round

With two brackets to go in this round, we've already seen some titans fall. Other legends still stand, including a few strong teams in this bracket. Apparently WhatIfSports already did a heavy simulation series involving the last 26 NBA Champions and found this year's Heat team to be the best. But are they? They get tested again this round, so we'll find out soon.

51 sims of a ton of matchups is a LOT of work, so we're sticking to our guns: best of seven series (2-2-1-1-1 format), with home court going to the team with the better overall record (regular season plus playoffs). All simulations are still done by WhatIfSports.com. If you want to see how we got here, the first round results are here. Let's light this candle.
'13 Miami Heat (82-23) vs '93 Chicago Bulls (72-29)
Game 1: @ '13 Heat 101, '93 Bulls 92 (MIA leads 1-0)
Game 2: @ '13 Heat 99, '93 Bulls 84 (MIA leads 2-0)
Game 3: '13 Heat 104, @ '93 Bulls 97 (MIA leads 3-0)
Game 4: @ '93 Bulls 107, '13 Heat 96 (MIA leads 3-1)
Game 5: @ '13 Heat 111, '93 Bulls 78 (MIA wins 4-1)
I'm gonna be honest: this one didn't surprise me. Of MJ's 6 title teams, this one might have been one of the weaker teams, and while I hoped Horace Grant could do some damage offensively, he really didn't do as much as I hoped all series. Instead, Chris Bosh was a major factor and LeBron did his usual thing. Dwyane Wade went off a bit in Game 3 and I think that was ultimately what did the Bulls in. Michael was a force as usual, averaging about 28 points in the 5 games (including over 30 in Games 2-4), but managed just 17 in Game 5. He just wasn't enough.

'84 Boston Celtics (74-28) vs '87 Los Angeles Lakers (80-20)
Game 1: @ '87 Lakers 118, '84 Celtics 105 (LAL leads 1-0)
Game 2: '84 Celtics 108, @ '87 Lakers 102 (Series tied 1-1)
Game 3: '87 Lakers 100, @ '84 Celtics 92 (LAL leads 2-1)
Game 4: @ '84 Celtics 121, '87 Lakers 105 (Series tied 2-2)
Game 5: @ '87 Lakers 102, '84 Celtics 92 (LAL leads 3-2)
Game 6: @ '84 Celtics 115, '87 Lakers 93 (Series tied 3-3)
Game 7: '84 Celtics 125, @ '87 Lakers 119 (OT) (BOS wins 4-3)
Magic Johnson put up a triple double in Game 1 and came really close in pretty much every other game this series. Larry Bird never reached that mark but had his excellent games as well. Kareem showed he still had something left in the tank with some excellent games, but his 24 in Game 7 (as well as Magic's 24) were overshadowed by a 35 point outburst from Robert Parish (including a bucket to tie the game at 109 with 2 seconds left in regulation after blowing a nine point lead) to push the C's to victory on the road.

This sets a fun stage for the next round here between a couple powerhouse teams, but before we can do that, there's still one more bracket left to go through. Tomorrow we see if LeBron's first title team can keep it up and whether Shaq and Kobe's best title squad can advance as both take on some of those legendary Celtics teams from back in the day.
