2022 COAS Pigskin Pick 'Em: Week 17

Just two weeks remain in the NFL season, and playoff races are coming down to the wire. So, to, is the race among the coalition for first place as we get set for Week 17.

The podcast was... not good luck for me or Adam last week as Joe swept both of us (six from me, five from Adam), and my prediction about how the two of us would fare hit as Adam took three of five. By some miracle I'm still in first in the column, but I'm no longer in first group-wide, and the cushion I've had for most of the season is now... pretty much completely gone.

We're getting this week's post live a little late this week due to travel for Adam, but we're well ahead of our final Thursday night game of the season. This week, Adam and I disagree on just two games, Joe and I on five, and Adam and Joe on five. Let's get to it!

2022 COAS Pigskin Pick 'Em: Week 16

The coalition returns for Week 16 of picking NFL games against the spread, and this week we have a special holiday treat for you.

Normally (and by that, I mean the last two years) we've done the Thanksgiving week of the NFL season in podcast form. That wasn't feasible this year with how the recording schedule of Then There Were Two: A History of the World Series has been going, combined with a basketball doubleheader in the days leading up to Thanksgiving. And so, we've been in column form since Week 1, including this past week. But stuff has been reasonable enough around the holidays that we were able to make it work this week.

And so for our Week 16 picks, Adam joined me on Confessions of a Sportscaster: The Podcast to go game by game. Joe couldn't join the session, but passed his picks along for the week.

2022 COAS Pigskin Pick 'Em: Week 15

The byes are complete, 64 games remain, and the coalition is getting down to the nitty gritty as we move onto Week 15 of the NFL season.

It wasn't my best performance this past week, but it was an improvement to be sure. Despite Adam taking two of three from me, I grabbed three of four from Joe and Adam took five of seven from him to shuffle the standings a little bit.

The most important part, for me anyway, is that after a week out of the top spot I'm back into a tie for first place. Just ten games separate first from last, so it's not like anyone is getting absolutely routed either. As we round turn four, Adam and I disagree on six games, Joe and I on four, and Joe and Adam on six games out of 16. Let's get to it!

2022 COAS Pigskin Pick 'Em: Week 14

We're starting to work our way into the home stretch of our 2022 Pigskin Pick 'Em contest and... oh. Oh, no.

I had my worst week since Week 4 earlier this year, and as a result, I am no longer leading the coalition as a whole. Somehow I do still lead in the column despite Joe taking six of seven from me while Adam took five of seven; Joe won three of four disputed with Adam. I still have a few games up on them, but Jim has vaulted into the lead after hanging close for a number of weeks.

Adam has been updating a sheet with home/road favorite/dog splits, as well as splits based on time (which... mine won't look pretty for the late/primetime slots after this week).

So as I attempt to reclaim my long-held lead, Adam and I disagree on three games, Joe and I on four, and Joe and Adam on seven out of 13. Let's get to it!

2022 COAS Pigskin Pick 'Em: Week 13

We're about two thirds of the way through now, and the coalition is moving onto Week 13 of picking NFL games against the spread!

I didn't have a similar past surge during the Thanksgiving week, but I held my own enough to remain in first place in the group overall, still holding my three game advantage on that front. In column, I did lose some ground though as while I split my four disputed games with Joe, Adam took four of six from both me and Joe to leapfrog him and get his deficit with me down to single digits.

You can view how we've picked in relation to each other here; I had a rough 0-2 week on hero picks, but the group on the whole is 38-26 in those games now and our consensus pick rate is starting to approach 50 percent, though we still have a lot of ground to make up on that front. Adam is continuing to chart how we've done picking based home/road favorites/underdogs, as well as how we've done by day and timeslot.

As we move back into bye season, Adam and I disagree on seven games, Joe and I on seven, and Joe and Adam on four out of 15. Let's get to it!

2022 COAS Pigskin Pick 'Em: Week 12

We're on accelerated deadlines this week, so the coalition returns a day early with our Week 12 NFL picks!

I would have loved to continue our tradition from the last couple of years and do this in podcast form, but unfortunately I was occupied by the Battle of Chicago-Maple Avenue, and didn't have the bandwidth for it. Thankfully, Adam and Joe were accommodating with the schedule adjustment.

Speaking of, I grabbed four of seven from Adam, Joe took two of three from me, and he took five of eight from Adam last week. My lead remains at three games in the group, while Adam has fallen into last place. You can view how we've picked in relation to each other here; Adam split four hero picks last week to help bring our group record to 35-24 in hero games, which is really good. Adam has also been tracking home/road favorite/underdog splits, as well as by timeslots.

As we return to a full schedule at least for one week, Adam and I disagree on six games (he guessed seven when he sent me his stuff on Tuesday afternoon), Joe and I on four, and Adam and Joe on six out of 16. 2022 COAS Pigskin Pick 'Em: Week 11

The coalition is back at it again as we return for another week of picking NFL games against the spread!

On the whole we've been improving and slowly working our way into better records for the most part. Or at least, I have, as I'm now just two games under .500 after grabbing four of seven disputed games from Adam and sweeping the two with Joe, while Adam took five of his nine with Joe last week.
