2021 NCAA NCSS Rankings: Week 6

After missing a week, let's get back on track here.

Fortunately we didn't miss a ton last week as conference play began in full force, but there's still updates that need to be made. So this week, I'm going to look back at the numbers from Week 5, as well as from Week 6.

Ultimately, I don't think we're going to see a ton of changes from here on out, except maybe a bit in the SEC and ACC since there's some cross-conference rivalry games in here. Let's get to it.

  1. MAC (0.25, 0.00; 5.75. LW: 1). Week 5, Ball State hosted Army and Toledo visited UMass. No non-conference games Week 6.
  2. Mountain West (0.33, 0.25; 5.17. LW: 2). Week 5, Utah State hosted BYU, San Jose State hosted New Mexico State, and UNLV visited UTSA. Week 6, Boise State visits BYU and Nevada hosts New Mexico State.
  3. Conference USA (0.79, 0.36; 5.00. LW: 4). Week 5, Charlotte visited Illinois, Western Kentucky visited Michigan State, Louisiana Tech visited NC State, UAB hosted Liberty, and UTSA hosted UNLV. Week 6, Middle Tennessee visits Liberty and North Texas visits Missouri.
  4. American Athletic (0.18, 0.00; 4.55. LW: 3). Week 5, Cincinnati visited Notre Dame. No non-conference games Week 6.
  5. Sun Belt (0.30, 0.00; 4.20. LW: 4). Week 5, Troy visited South Carolina. No non-conference games Week 6.
  6. Big Ten (0.14, 0.00; 3.50. LW: 6). Week 5, Michigan State hosted Western Kentucky and Illinois hosted Charlotte. No non-conference games Week 6.
  7. SEC (0.14, 0.07; 3.07. LW: 7). Week 5, South Carolina hosted Troy and Vanderbilt hosted UConn. Week 6, Missouri hosts North Texas.
  8. Big XII (0.00; 2.70. LW: 8). No non-conference games Week 5 or Week 6.
  9. Pac-12 (0.00; 2.58. LW: 9). No non-conerence games Week 5 or Week 6.
  10. ACC (0.07, 0.07; 2.50. LW: 10). Week 5, NC State hosted Louisiana Tech. Week 6, Virginia Tech hosts Notre Dame.

As one additional point of reference, the independent schools are averaging a score of 9.57 in this metric, easily leading the nation. Notre Dame, as expected, has the highest score with 12 points.

Once the Week 6 games are done, I'll go through the numbers and have an updated look at Playoff Points through six weeks!
