It was a fairly even week across the board. Joe and I split our two disputed games last week, while we each edged out Adam by the narrowest of margins; I took three of five while Joe took four of seven. Unfortunately for us that was just a dent as Adam's lead in the group remains pretty firm.
You can view how we've all picked in relation to each other here. Adam again sent a note in our group text about this, this time asking why we're so bad on consensus picks. I'm... not sure what he was talking about, as we split the four this week and keep our pace of a narrow majority hitting. The hero picks this weeks were also split, with Tom hitting on his lone try while Geoffrey went 1-2 in his. Adam's strong performance remains pretty heavily the basis for his current lead, which sits at seven games on the closest person and just 11 with me bringing up the rear.
As I continue to hope for my Thanksgiving heater, it may come this week as I dispute a whopping eight of 14 games with Adam. Joe has six disputed games with each of us. Let's get to it!
Thursday Night
Buffalo Bills @ Houston Texans (+5.5)
Lucas: Texans. I originally took Buffalo, but I saw a report on Wednesday that the Bills will be out like three of their weapons, which means Josh Allen is gonna have to do this nonsense himself. General Mills, prepare your men.
Adam: Bills. Seems like a low hanging fruit pick. Ok its on the road, and it’s a Thursday night, but the Bills are the better team by far here.
Joe: Bills.
Sunday, Early Afternoon
Pittsburgh Steelers @ Chicago Bears (-3.5)
Lucas: Steelers. I reserve the right to change this pick, but for right now, the image of a Percocet'd up Aaron Rodgers screaming "I STILL [expletive] OWN YOU!" into the stands again after scampering in for a game-sealing touchdown is currently living rent free in my brain. Which inevitably means he'll get ruled out late on Friday and I'll have to switch because the Bears will pull another game out of their butts, which let me remind you: their best win this season is against the Cowboys in Week 3, and they've needed to pull something out of their butts in basically every other win this season. I've said it about the Vikings in years past, and I can't help but feel like this Bears team might be every bit as fraudulent as they were. Or maybe I need to stop taking so much copium. Oh crap, did I take A-A-Ron's Percocet? Get me out of here.
Adam: Steelers. I hate this. With an aging A A Ron out Pitt gets Mason Rudolph, who is arguably an upgrade for the Steelers. Paired with the Bears just ekeing out some wins this year, I think Pitt takes advantage. Close game, but Steelers cover if not wins.
Joe: Bears.
New England Patriots @ Cincinnati Bengals (+8.5)
Lucas: Patriots. I mean, I'm not betting against a new Sith Lord.
Joe: Patriots.
New York Giants @ Detroit Lions (-10.5)
Lucas: Giants. This is, again, purely a points pick, though I could see the Lions taking out their tough loss to Philly on the Derp.
Adam: Lions. Ufff, 10+ lines are the worst. But it seems like the right spot to put it. The Lions at home will be just fine. Besides, who even plays anymore on the G-Men?
Joe: Lions.
Minnesota Vikings @ Green Bay Packers (-6.5)
Lucas: Packers. I originally took the Vikings, but I switched for two reasons. One, Toyotathon is on. Two, the Packers have never lost on my birthday (at least since I've been alive).
Adam: Vikings. A fun fact: JJ McCarthy has an alter ego he named #9. He said in an interview something like, I prep for a game by letting #9 come out... lol. But seriously, these teams are not a touchdown apart. In a battle between NFC North teams, it should be a decent game, and close.
Joe: Vikings.
Seattle Seahawks @ Tennessee Titans (+12.5)
Lucas: Titans. This is again a points pick. Which maybe I shouldn't, what with Seattle seeming to be the one that bucks the whole "West coast teams going east" thing that occasionally pops up on here.
Adam: Seahawks. Next.
Joe: Seahawks.
Indianapolis Colts @ Kansas City Chiefs (-3.5)
Lucas: Colts. I can't remember the last time the Chiefs played a home noon game. I'm just so used to seeing them play in the late window. Maybe that throws things off, who knows.
Adam: Chiefs. We will finally get to really see what the Colts are. I am guessing not as good as we have given them. KC has looked better of late and at home Mahomie will get all the calls.
Joe: Colts.
New York Jets @ Baltimore Ravens (-13.5)
Lucas: Ravens. Godspeed, Tyrod Taylor.
Adam: Jets. Purely a line play; nothing more to see here.
Joe: Ravens.
Sunday, Late Afternoon
Cleveland Browns @ Las Vegas Raiders (-3.5)
Lucas: Browns. I'm betting on Shaedur Sanders. What is this world coming to.
Adam: Browns. How are the Raiders favored? I get it, the Browns are nothing to shake a finger at right now, but damn a dog? The Browns D shuts Jeanty down (maybe not 6 yds shut down like on Monday), but still all the Browns will have to do it get in the endzone once.
Joe: Browns.
Jacksonville Jaguars @ Arizona Cardinals (+2.5)
Lucas: Jaguars. On the one hand, I feel like we're due for a letdown game from Jacksonville. On the other, it's the Cardinals. I'll lay the points.
Adam: Cardinals. Which Jags are we going to see this week? Coming off a big win over the Chargers, they travel to Arizona. I am betting against them.
Joe: Jaguars.
Philadelphia Eagles @ Dallas Cowboys (+3.5)
Lucas: Eagles. Next.
Adam: Eagles. Gonna Tush Push them to the endzone. Apparently the Eagles are among the leagues worst at 3rd down conversion, but 67% at 4th down. Tush Push anyone?
Lucas note: For reference:
| Down | Down | Down | Down | Down | Down | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Player | 3DAtt | 3DConv | 3D% | 4DAtt | 4DConv | 4D% |
| Team Stats | 124 | 42 | 33.9 | 17 | 11 | 64.7 |
| Lg Rank Offense | 29 | 8 |
Atlanta Falcons @ New Orleans Saints (-2.5)
Lucas: Falcons. Even though they're back in QB Hell despite their best efforts.
Adam: Falcons. Ewwwww. No, next.
Joe: Falcons.
Sunday Night
Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Los Angeles Rams (-6.5)
Lucas: Buccaneers. I could go either way here. But I think since I'm getting close to a touchdown I have to take the points since Baker should keep them in the game again.
Adam: Buccaneers. Wow, a 6.5 line. Baker is going to will this into a win for Tampa.
Joe: Rams.
Monday Night
Carolina Panthers @ San Francisco 49ers (-7.5)
Lucas: Panthers. We live in a universe where the Panthers are actually competitive. I don't know what's happening.
Adam: Panthers. Man I feel like people keep sleeping on the Panthers this year. I get it, the Niners have been good and all, but seven-plus, no. I’ll hope the Panthers can keep it close, and back door win. Heard it here first.
Joe: Panthers.
Records So Far
Lucas: 78-86 (8-7 last week)
Adam: 89-75 (7-8 last week)
Joe: 82-82 (8-7 last week)
Geoffrey: 80-84 (8-7 last week)
Jim: 81-83 (8-7 last week)
Tom: 81-83 (7-8 last week)
