2020 COAS Pigskin Pick 'Em: Week 15

The coalition soldiers on towards the end of the season, and my triumphant high from last week has come crashing down.

It wasn't a historic loss, thankfully... but Adam swept our four disputed games as my two game lead flips to a two game deficit. Though with 48 to play... anything can happen.

The bad news is, a week after Adam got his ESPN numbers righted... Thursday he screwed up again, so now the only correct number is our margin since I screwed up once earlier in the year. You can view those standings, bearing in mind we each have one more point than we should, here. Correct standings, along with how we've picked in relation to each other, can be found here. The big takeaway from looking at that: Adam is great at hero picks.

This week, he and I disagree on eight games out of 16. Let's see if I can flip the script again!

Thursday Night

Los Angeles Chargers @ Las Vegas Raiders (-3.5)
Lucas: Raiders. I'm not gonna put much stock in the Chargers covering in the Choke Bowl. Vegas by at least a touchdown.
Adam: Raiders. Josh Jacobs the MF'ing internet troll... haha. Raiders by 10.

Saturday Afternoon

Buffalo Bills @ Denver Broncos (+6.5)
Lucas: Bills. I'm interested to see the ceiling of this Bills team. I don't know that it's a Super Bowl team... but I think they can hang with just about anybody.
Adam: Bills. This line is just at the limit of where I want to take it. I don’t want to give more than a touchdown today.

Saturday Night

Carolina Panthers @ Green Bay Packers (-8.5)
Lucas: Packers. The line scares me a bit (I think this is three straight games as an eight and a half point favorite?), but I have to back the memes. Last week it was David Bakhtiari. This week it's Robert Tonyan.

Adam: Panthers. This is a gut pick. No rhyme or reason; just gut pick.

Sunday, Early Afternoon

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Atlanta Falcons (+5.5)
Lucas: Buccaneers. Nothing really to say about this game. The Bucs are still pretty good, Falcons not so much.
Adam: Falcons. Here is a case of a team that I think is getting some bounces (the Bucs) against a team that seems to be losing all the bounces (the Falcons). Atlanta is either routed by at least two touchdowns or they keep it super tight and win/lose by two or less. For that reason, I’ll take the home team and the chance at a close game.

Chicago Bears @ Minnesota Vikings (-3.5)
Lucas: Vikings. Chicago-san, you beat an inferior team! Now DO IT ANOTHER THREE MILLION TIMES, WHY DONTCHA. (Note: video contains NSFW language, violence, etc...)

Adam: Bears. Ok, ok, ok, the Sad Brown Panda may not be so bad... but I guess they really only beat an underwhelming Houston team. That said, the Vikes are also a team that have generally underwhelmed this year as well... I’ll take the points and how the Biscuit is baking.

San Francisco 49ers @ Dallas Cowboys (+2.5)
Lucas: Cowboys. Taking the points because I feel like Dallas is better than an injured to hell Niners team.
Adam: 49ers. The Cowboys must be real proud of themselves for beating the Bengals... forget the fact that they got three early turnovers that converted into 17 or so points and could only muster 13 points on their own. Shhh, shhh, shhh, I said forget about it.

Detroit Lions @ Tennessee Titans (-9.5)
Lucas: Titans. Detroit's defense is awful. Have fun, Euphoric Violet Gazelle.
Adam: Lions. Between the coaching change, and maybe getting Golladay back this week, I think Stafford has a day of it and makes the game interesting. I just don’t see the Titans rolling out a double digit win.

Houston Texans @ Indianapolis Colts (-7.5)
Lucas: Colts. Houston needs an overhaul. That, or they're still paying the tax for the Astros' stolen title. (Note: video contains NSFW language).

Adam: Colts. After the spanking the Bears gave the Texans, the Colts come right back and whoop 'em some more.

New England Patriots @ Miami Dolphins (-2.5)
Lucas: Dolphins. Back in the Brady days, this was one of the tougher places for New England to play. Without him? More so.
Adam: Dolphins. I just think about what the line for a game like this would have been in the past three or four years; probably Pats by 20. How the tables have turned for the Fins. Easy cover over Ms. Newton and his gaggle of figs.

Seattle Seahawks @ Washington Football Team (+5.5)
Lucas: Washington. SANDWICH OF URINATING TREE CONTENT!

Adam: Seahawks. With Smith hurt, The Team had to return to Haskins. The line is probably baking in whether or not Smith can play. If he plays, this is a good line; if he does not, Seattle easily covers.

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Baltimore Ravens (-13.5)
Lucas: Ravens. Now that Baltimore's offense is rolling, even with Lamar Jackson off doing... whatever it is he was doing. Cramping, pooping... we'll let Adam make the jokes here.
Adam: Jaguars. 13.5 is a pretty s****y line... wait, ask Lamar about that. Jags with Stache boy and all cover.

Sunday, Late Afternoon

New York Jets @ Los Angeles Rams (-16.5)
Lucas: Rams. This is a lot to lay... but the Jets are awful. And now I'm actively rooting for 0-16 so I can do a winless team tournament of WhatIfSports.
Adam: Rams. Wow, 2 score-plus line and I am going to lay it. But let’s look at this honestly. The Rams' D will bottle up any and everything Ghost Hunter Darold throws at them. Plus, its in LA. Certainly a tall order, but I’m willing to gamble.

Philadelphia Eagles @ Arizona Cardinals (-6.5)
Lucas: Eagles. We're still well in the "the league needs to adjust" phase with Jalen Hurts, and the fact that I'm getting almost a touchdown makes this even better.
Adam: Eagles. Hurts has been nothing short of a breath of fresh air in Philly. Not sure if it's him being a rookie and they are dumbing down the offense, or if he is actually running the offense the way it is called. Who knows.

Kansas City Chiefs @ New Orleans Saints (+3.5)
Lucas: Chiefs. While Brees sounds like he's being designated to return from IR, I don't know if he'll play (and if he does, how good he'll be), so I'll take Mahomes.
Adam: Chiefs. Like the Team line, this line feels like it has a Brees return baked in. With Brees playing, it's a coin flip at 5.5. But with Hill, this is an easy point, thank you very much.

Sunday Night

Cleveland Browns @ New York Giants (+3.5)
Lucas: Browns. You know you've made it when you get flexed into a primetime game over the Cowboys. The Cowboys! Yes, Cleveland got beat by Baltimore the other night, but it's a game they played well in. We joked about the cycle, but Baker was good. This Cleveland team is going to be a tough out in the postseason.
Adam: Browns. Hemmed and hawed over this one a little. Last week was a debacle with six sacks and Jones is not going to get an easier spot. So as much as I want the G-Men to cover and even win, I just don’t see it happening regardless of which Baker we get this week.

Monday Night

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Cincinnati Bengals (+12.5)
Lucas: Bengals. This is solely a "taking the points" pick, given that the Steelers might have peaked too early... and their peak wasn't even that good!

Facts 😂 (GhettoGronk)

Posted by NFL Memes on Sunday, December 13, 2020
Adam: Steelers. *Pittsburgh checking their schedule* "Phew, finally a team that is not a marginal .500 team or better. We can marginally beat them and claim back our superiority over averageness!"

Records So Far
Lucas: 103-105 (5-11 last week)
Adam: 105-103 (9-7 last week)
Joe: 94-114 (9-7 last week)
Geoffrey: 103-105 (8-8 last week)
Jim: 98-110 (10-6 last week)
