2017 COAS Pigskin Pick 'Em Week 10

We're past the halfway point of the 2017 NFL season, and the coalition marches on!

Adam had a nice bounceback week, taking three of four disputed games (including two of three hero picks) to not only extend his lead that he's held all season, but also to move back into a tie for first place with Geoffrey Clark. My dad is even starting to catch back up to the pack a little bit. You can look at our ESPN standings here, but with a Week 1 error on there, you can view correct standings and a full breakdown of our picks in relation to each other here.

This week, Adam and I disagree on five games out of 14.

Thursday Night

Seattle Seahawks @ Arizona Cardinals (+6.5)
Lucas: Cardinals. I was all in on Seattle last week and they wet the bed. I don't see why they should be laying a touchdown on the road. Also, crap like this is why this Color Rush nonsense needs to end. I can get behind a blackout jersey, but this neon getup... woof.
Adam: Seahawks. Could have been one of the better Thursday night games but alas, DJ decided he only wanted to play one half of football this year. Don’t love giving points to an up and down team like the Cards at home, but I’ll play my gut a little here.

Sunday, Early Afternoon

New Orleans Saints @ Buffalo Bills (+2.5)
Lucas: Saints. I mean, you've gotta ride the hot hand, right? I'm kind of amazed we live in a world where New Orleans' defense is all right and an aging Drew Brees is playing pretty well.
Adam: Saints. Let’s see Brees go for 450 and four touchdowns this week... man would my fantasy team love to see that.

Green Bay Packers @ Chicago Bears (-4.5)
Lucas: Bears. We live in a world where the Bears are favored over the Packers, and have the better quarterback. Fire everyone.
Adam. Bears. The Bears a favorite against the Packers. When was the last time this happened? Even if you take of the customary 3 point home benefit the Bears as still favored. Something must be missing... oh right, Aaron Rodgers.
Lucas note:

Cincinnati Bengals @ Tennessee Titans (-5.5)
Lucas: Titans. Tennessee has underwhelmed this season, but so have the Bengals. Also, A.J. Green should have gotten suspended for what he did to Jalen Ramsey. The NFL is a joke and Goodell needs to be fired.
Adam: Bengals. Not much to love about this game; both teams have been disappointing. With Murray not 100% and Mariota not really being able to do much I like Andy Dalton in this cage match.

Cleveland Browns @ Detroit Lions (-11.5)
Lucas: Lions. Okay, let me double check my list of firings... the Packers' coaching staff, Ted Thompson, and especially the training staff; Goodell... you know what, let's throw Sashi Brown on there too for effing up the McCarron trade a week ago. And for generally being an inept GM.
Adam: Lions. If this game is anything like every Browns game this year, the Browns will keep it close for the first 3 quarters, then s*** the bed and lose by two or more touchdowns.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Indianapolis Colts (+9.5)
Lucas: Steelers. I feel like you have to question what's going on in Indy, where they said Captain Andrew Luck would be ready to go near the start of the year, but now looks like he'll miss the whole thing.
Adam: Steelers. So now there are reports out that Luck may never play in the NFL again. What the hell, Indy? Trusting nothing, I mean nothing, from Indy right now.

Minnesota Vikings @ Washington Redskins (+1.5)
Lucas: Vikings. I know he's still not ready to start yet, but BAH GAWD, THAT'S TEDDY BRIDGEWATER'S MUSIC!
Adam: Redskins. Giving the home team an edge here. Basically a pick ’em game and I’ll take home field.

New York Jets @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+2.5)
Lucas: Jets. No Jameis Winston and no Mike Evans make Lucas something something...
Adam: Jets. Not sure why... isn’t Winston injured now too? Lots of QBs going down this year.

Los Angeles Chargers @ Jacksonville Jaguars (-4.5)
Lucas: Jaguars. The pattern would seem to dictate that the Jags are due for an egg, but Jalen Ramsey is playing, and the Chargers get an early game. I'll lay the points.
Adam: Jaguars. Is Fournette back from his one game ‘sit out’? Not really sure what he did (ignorance and not looking at anything on my part), but I am sure it was something stupid. The Jags will be ready to go.
Lucas note: Violation of team rules that apparently included missing the team photo, so... yeah, something stupid.

Sunday, Late Afternoon

Houston Texans @ Los Angeles Rams (-11.5)
Lucas: Rams. If you had told me two months ago the Rams would be double digit home favorites over Houston I'd have thought you were crazy. But here we are, with the Texans' quarterback being Tom Savage, and if he struggles... real life Josh Johnson as opposed to my Madden franchise Josh Johnson where he managed to get close to if not at a 99 overall rating but was my third string quarterback for a couple years behind Tim Tebow, who's played in 10 straight Super Bowls, and ten-time reigning MVP and Super Bowl champion Vince Young. Alternate realities are fun.
Adam: Texans. Ok, where was this Todd Gurley all my life? Wow, maybe he is a decent RB and not a huge bust as many thought this year. Regardless, I don’t see this game being decided by anything more than a touchdown. Oh, and I would take the over (46) for sure.

Dallas Cowboys @ Atlanta Falcons (-2.5)
Lucas: Cowboys. The year is 2367. The Federation Supreme Court has to make some decisions about a drumhead trial aboard the Enterprise-D, but first they will hear arguments about a 350 year old labor relations case involving Ezekiel Elliott and the long defunct National Football League. Many in the Federation don't care about this case, except for Commander Kathryn Janeway, descendant of Roger Goodell who wants to ensure her ancestor sees justice carried out. And like Goodell, she doesn't care about things like due process or the Temporal Prime Directive.
Lucas note: I spent way too much time on this.
Adam: Falcons. I am so sick of this stupid soap opera with the NFL and Elliot. I get it, neither wants to ‘lose,’ but it is at a point where if the suspension is enforced, Dallas could very well jeopardize a playoff spot.

New York Giants @ San Francisco 49ers (+0.5)
Lucas: 49ers. The guy who did this to rally the troops at halftime en route to a blowout is favored. Let that sink in.
Adam: 1-9ers. Going for gusto.
Lucas note: Normally I edit to make sure the actual team name is put down with the pick, but I let it slide this time because it was funny. He also labeled this game as being against the 0-9ers, which is just delightful.

Sunday Night

New England Patriots @ Denver Broncos (+7.5)
Lucas: Patriots. Can we bring Peyton Manning's noodle arm out of retirement for one more game? Surely he'd be better than anyone currently on Denver's roster, and then we can also bring back the old gambling rule: Don't bet against Peyton Manning at night.
Adam: Patriots. Everything is falling apart in Denver right now and talk about a nad sac in New England to go with only 1 QB after trading away the back-up.
Lucas note: #TrustTheProcessHoodie

Monday Night

Miami Dolphins @ Carolina Panthers (-9.5)
Lucas: Dolphins. Anyone want to be the guy to tell Cam Newton what actually happened to the Titanic?
Adam: Dolphins. Man, this is not that great of a Monday night game, but I will damn well be watching it in anticipation of another team booing Smoking Jay on TV. But as I recall from his Bears days, Jay likes the spotlight and does exceedingly well in prime time games.
Lucas note: For giggles, I looked up his splits. Not really much of a difference between his career numbers and just his primetime numbers, and he's 19-20 at night. Also:

Records So Far
Lucas: 65-67 (7-6 last week)
Adam: 70-62 (9-4 last week)
Scott: 58-74 (9-4 last week)
Geoffrey: 70-62 (5-8 last week)
