2021 NCAA Playoff Points: Week 11

I am to some degree in full playoff mode, as D-III had their selection show for the playoffs on Sunday. Meanwhile, the FBS still has two more weeks of regular season games, plus Championship Weekend, on the docket. And with another week's worth of games in the books from last week, I need to take a look at the results and how things change now.

I'm still up in the air about doing a mock bracket, though with basketball clear for another week or two, I may have time to pull that off, and it won't seem like I'm doing too much anymore I don't think.

But for now, let's look at how the results from this past week have changed the numbers here.

Some flip-flopping here this week, but not a ton. The SEC still reigns at the top of most categories, with the Big Ten and Big 12 falling in behind them, then we have a dropoff to the ACC and Mountain West before the bottom really falls out... and then there's Conference USA. It's weird to have the independents here, because they're not a true conference, and ultimately it's basically "Notre Dame is the only team of note here, everyone else means nothing."

Speaking of the Irish though, they're in outstanding shape with 44 First Degree Playoff Points, second nationally and only behind Georgia, who's pretty much lapping the field now with 56 points. Michigan is in third with 43 points, followed by Wake Forest at 40, and a three way tie between Oregon, Oklahoma State, and Ohio State at 39 points rounds out our top five, extended to seven. Boise State and North Carolina remain atop the PP2 rankings, though the only likely contender near the top here is Notre Dame, with 20.89 points, good for fifth nationally. Then in aPP, Georgia is obviously first with a matching 56 points, followed by Notre Dame at 44, Michigan at 42, Ohio State at 38, and we have another three way tie rounding out the top five with Oklahoma State, Wake Forest, and unbeaten UTSA all at 35 points.

Two weeks of regular season remain, followed by championship weekend, at which point the Death to the BCS Playoff field will be unveiled! In the meantime, I'll for sure have Week 12 NCSS data up on Tuesday, and potentially a mock Death to the BCS Bracket for this week as well.
