The holidays threw everything for a loop so this is getting posted late, but the stockings were hung by the chimney with care, with the hope the football picks would soon be there.
It ended up being a solid week for me, but nonetheless Adam took three of four disputed games from me and four of five from Joe. For reference, I took two of three from Joe. Adam's lead in the group is now up to double digits, so I think he can start planning the parade again.
You can view how we've all picked in relation to each other here. The BS continues to be real as Adam hit on another two of his three hero picks last week, bringing him to a staggering 73 percent hit rate on those games with the highest volume out of any of us. Call it luck, call it skill, call it whatever, but that's a big reason for his sizable advantage. Meanwhile in consensus games, we're all still hitting around where we've been all season, so I can't complain on the whole.
As we look ahead to the Week 17 slate, including a number of holiday games, Adam and I disagree on six games, Joe and I on three, and the two of them on five out of 16.
From all of us at Confessions of a Sportscaster, have a Merry Christmas! Let's get to it.
Thursday, Early Afternoon
Dallas Cowboys @ Washington Commanders (+6.5)
Lucas: Cowboys. Mainly because I don't know that I trust Josh Johnson. Really, we shouldn't even worry about this game and instead treat ourselves to some Sabaton for the holiday.
Adam: Cowboys. Call this a gut feeling. Or call this a dying breath of a team that really could have had a different season if they just signed Parsons. Jerra gonna Jerra.
Joe: Cowboys.
Thursday, Late Afternoon
Detroit Lions @ Minnesota Vikings (+5.5)
Lucas: Lions. Detroit bounces back after last week, but let's be clear: even though the officials have screwed the Lions over on more than one occasion, the Amon-Ra OPI was not one of them, and I love this savagery.

Adam: Lions. A game Detroit needs of they want any chances of making the playoffs.
Joe: Lions.
Thursday Night
Denver Broncos @ Kansas City Chiefs (+12.5)
Lucas: Broncos. I originally took the points here, but the Chiefs are starting *checks notes* Chris Oladokun at quarterback? The football gods are jerks.
Adam: Chiefs. All I can see is that meme of that guy rocking himself choking out “I’m so scared”. Like I don’t really know what to even say here.
Lucas note: Neither do I, because I don't know what this meme even is.
Joe: Broncos.
Saturday Afternoon
Houston Texans @ San Diego Chargers (-2.5)
Lucas: Texans. Houston's defense is gonna be a problem in January. We'll see if Stroud can hold up his end of the bargain.
Adam: Chargers. Gonna be a good game; I would not be surprised by any result here. But playing the home team to take it by at least a field goal.
Joe: Chargers.
Saturday Night
Baltimore Ravens @ Green Bay Packers (-2.5)
Lucas: Packers. Maybe this is me huffing copium or trying to overcome the PTSD that this past game provided (seriously, the 2014 NFC Championship Game parallels were effing eerie), but while the injury bug has bitten Green Bay hard again, they're still in good playoff position. And maybe we get a revenge game or two in the playoffs, who knows.
Adam: Ravens. As of my writing this (Tuesday at 11pm) both Jackson and Love are in doubt to play. I’ll then roll with the better backup (Huntley) and RB (Henry, or as Lucas likes to call him, the Euphoric Violet Gazelle) but I’ll reserve another late change if Love is cleared for this game and Jackson is not.
Joe: Packers.
Sunday, Early Afternoon
Arizona Cardinals @ Cincinnati Bengals (-7.5)
Lucas: Bengals. Joe Burrow should be enough to pull this one out fairly easily.
Adam: Cardinals. Purely a line pick. Cincy should win easy but will give the spread pick to Arizona.
Joe: Cardinals.
Seattle Seahawks @ Carolina Panthers (+7.5)
Lucas: Panthers. This screams overreaction to last week to me. Carolina can hang with this group.
Adam: Panthers. I’m sorry, this is a little disrespectful to Carolina. A dog I get, but 7.5 at home!?!? And with Seattle coming off two tough games the past two weeks that took last second field goals or overtime heroics, give me them points.
Joe: Panthers.
Pittsburgh Steelers @ Cleveland Browns (+3.5)
Lucas: Steelers. Thanks, Aaron!
Adam: Steelers. Easy, next.
Joe: Steelers.
New Orleans Saints @ Tennessee Titans (+2.5)
Lucas: Saints. In an appetizer for the main Tank Bowl, I'll take the clearly better team.
Adam: Saints. Lol. Tennessee beats up on a third string QB in KC and suddenly the lines come down. I get it, the Saints are not good either, but not this bad. Saints by a touchdown or better.
Joe: Saints.
Jacksonville Jaguars @ Indianapolis Colts (+6.5)
Lucas: Jaguars. Do you see Indy's defense being able to stop Sunshine and Co? Because I don't. Phillip Rivers didn't rise from the dead to have to deal with this.
Adam: Jaguars. I’m sorry, but the Rivers experience may already be over. Do you see him throwing out there? Looks like he has to give himself a hernia and then undo it every time he throws.
Joe: Jaguars.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Miami Dolphins (+5.5)
Lucas: Buccaneers. Probably the penultimate game for Mike McDaniel in South Florida. Moving on.
Adam: Buccaneers. I mean, they need it right now. Technically still in the playoff hunt but probably needs a ton of help and may even be eliminated by kick.
Joe: Buccaneers.
New England Patriots @ New York Jets (+13.5)
Lucas: Patriots. Tempted to take the points here, but I don't think I can. I mean, how can you, as a team, after hiring a defensive guru as your new head coach, fail to notch a single interception through 15 games? Yeah, turnovers are fluky and whatnot, but none through 15 games is a statistical improbability.
Adam: Jets. Just a line pick and assuming the Pats may start resting as they can start to look ahead to the playoffs.
Joe: Patriots.
Sunday, Late Afternoon
New York Giants @ Las Vegas Raiders (-1.5)
Lucas: Giants. Ignore the logos, I had to make do with this.
BAH GAWD THAT'S TANK BOWL'S MUSIC!#49ers vs #Buccaneers
— UrinatingTree (@UrinatingTree) November 25, 2018
HOW MANY TANK BOWLS ARE THERE GOING TO BE THIS YEAR, ANYWAY?
GET HYPE? pic.twitter.com/SoXkaaCU9M
Adam: Giants. Playing the reverse card from the west coast teams in prime time. This game takes place at 4pm eastern vs 2 pm Vegas. So by the late afternoon theory GMen win.
Joe: Raiders.
Philadelphia Eagles @ Buffalo Bills (-1.5)
Lucas: Bills. Should be a good one, but I'll ride the home team.
Adam: Bills. Which semi inconsistent team do I want to take? I’ll just do my usual and take the home team here.
Joe: Bills.
Sunday Night
Chicago Bears @ San Francisco 49ers (-2.5)
Lucas: Bears. Is it still Devil Magic if it's coming from the pope? I'ma go write down a formal protest. (Editor note: video contains NSFW langauge).
Adam: 49ers. Damnit, my west coast thing played against me. All logic says 49ers are the play. Ok but hoping the Bears make this game an outlier.
Lucas note: I'm legit shocked he went this route.
Joe: Bears.
Monday Night
Los Angeles Rams @ Atlanta Falcons (+7.5)
Lucas: Rams. LA's had a couple weird stumbles lately, and Atlanta's been feisty, but I think the Rams know what's at stake this week. They win by a couple scores.
Adam: Rams. 7.5 seems like a generous line. I could see this a point or two higher, so I’ll lay the 7.5 and hope the half point doesn’t hit me on the way out.
Joe: Rams.
Records So Far
Lucas: 118-122 (10-6 last week)
Adam: 129-111 (12-4 last week)
Joe: 116-124 (9-7 last week)
Geoffrey: 116-124 (8-8 last week)
Jim: 119-121 (9-7 last week)
Tom: 111-129 (5-11 last week)
